arena: used with "una"In listening exercise "Barra", I saw the following sentence: "(La playa) Tiene una arena blanca y suave" Is this a typo? or is this really how "sand" is referenced in spanish? As in, "one sand"?

To me this seems this would be ongoing : that he held his breath while things were happening….

Could the imperfect be used as well in this case?

Ser vs Estar

Every episode of News in Slow Spanish starts with "Es jueves, ..." and so I got the answer to this wrong. So to clarify,

do we use "estar" plus a preposition to be less formal and it's correct, but more formal to use "ser" and that form doesn't take a preposition?

Is it better to use "El Pretérito Imperfecto" or the imperfect continuous here?1Vosotros ________ las bebidas mientras nosotros comíamos.You were buying the drinks while we ate.(HINT: Conjugate "comprar" in El Pretérito Imperfecto.)comprabaiscompraréishabéis compradocomprar
