Hi there, In English it would be ‘rims of the glasses’ not ‘rim of the glasses’. The sentence you have written for translation uses the singular, which is incorrect. Rims would be in the plural, not singular. In Spanish it appears the singular is used not the plural ‘frota el borde de los vasos’. Is this correct?

Hi,

I am also a little confused by this lesson. I accept that they must be used as written but as the former modifies an adjective and the other a verb, how does this relate to the sentence above? Do they both relate in different ways to the second part of the sentence? Also, although they have the same translation, is there any difference to a Spanish speaker?

I need to understand when to apply each so that I don't make a mistake.

Why not repeat the D.O. pronoun in this instance?

No ________ todo el tiempo a nuestro hijo; necesita espacio.

We can't be watching our son all the time; he needs some space.

(HINT: use modal verb "poder" and the verb "vigilar" for to watch)

Dejar de + infinitive

The lesson specifically states that we don’t use the gerund as we might in English. Then the gerund is used: He dejado de fumar. Am I missing something? Nowhere in the lesson does it say in certain instances we would use the gerund. Please explain.

When is one preferred over the other?

I know the -- if after a noun is doesn't make since with " which or that," then use " de que" if you intend it to be " that"

But like what about the other times?

I swear it almost seems like other than what I said above, it's interchangeable.
