Si iba a la peluquería, me gastaba mucho dinero.
If I went to the hairdresser, I spent a lot of money.
Sorry but I can't make any sense out of the use of English in this example.
"When I went to the hairdresser, I spent a lot of money" No problem
"If I had been to the hairdresser, I would have spent a lort of money" OK
"If I were to go to the hairdresser, I would spend a lot of money"
"If I go to the hairdresser, I shall spend a lot of money"
The example: If I went to the hairdreser, I spent a lot of money" is not good English.
Hope this can be of help.

¿Tienen el mismo significado "está por llover" y "está para llover"? ¿Hay algún matiz?
So, "hay" is used for both singular and plural? And not "han bares in mi varrio"? Can "ha" be used in such a case?
In your explanation above under "careful", the original sense used "acabamos con" but the follow-up explanation used "nos acabamos". Are they interchangeable?
Hola Foro y los expertos
Tengo una pregunta a propósito de la part de la oración 'pero he de insistir en que vayas a Córdoba'.
Por qué, usamos 'en' aquí. No es possible decirlo igualmente sin 'en', 'pero he de insistir que vayas a Córdoba'.
I shared this example with my Spanish teacher, as I have never heard the conditional used in this way. She said that this form is not commonly used in Mexico. Is it more specific to Spain and/or other countries?
In this exercise, the adjective "gran" has been placed BEFORE the noun "siesta". To me, that suggests that the nap was "great", "wonderful", "marvelous", etc. as opposed to big, (i.e., long) in which case, I think that the adjective "grande" would be used and placed BEHIND the noun "siesta". However, in the English translation, I think I remember the word "big" being used (I'm not absolutely positive about this). Would you care to comment on this issue?
