Ser v. estar and indefinido v imperfecto

Why is it "fue (indefinido) muy emocionante" but "mis contrincantes eran (imperfecto) muy bueno"?

And why is it "fue muy emocionante" rather than "estaba / estuve muy emocionante"? There is a lesson entitled "Using estar (not ser) when talking about emotions".

Poneos doesn't seem to make sense with vosotros...

Your example is:

Cuando os tumbéis en la playa poneos la crema solar.When you lie down on the beach put some suncream on.Why isn't 'poned' used here? It's an imperative command isn't it? Is it because of the 'OS' tacked on the end?

Conjugating

For this lesson, would it be correct to say that you generally conjugate the verbs ending in "ar" to "aba" (e.g. hablar becomes hablaba) and that you conjugate verbs ending in "er" and "ir" to "ía" (e.g. soler becomes solía)?

Bastante when to use singular vs plural

I think I saw an earlier lesson when you use bastante and other words only in a singular form. But I can't find the other lesson. Hopefully you can direct me to the lesson :)

Mano becomes Manaza?The explanatory notes say that even if the body part is feminine it always uses azo rather than aza but the answer here for large hands was manazas. Shouldn't it be manazos?

Haber hecho

Hello,

I have come across this: "haber hecho" as in:

"After having done this... Después de haber hecho esto... "

and searched here for this structure and found this lesson, but not this form for "haber hecho" nor did I find anything online except one site calling it an idiom.

I was wondering what part of speech "haber hecho" is, I can't find it as a tense and have not been able to find its grammatical term. I don't think this is an "idiom". Thanks for your help in claryfing this.

Mamás vs madres

Another question from the quiz: "Las mamás quieren darles de mamar a sus bebés en el parque". In Spanish as spoken in Spain, wouldn't it be more common to use madres instead of mamás? Natives told me not to overuse mamá, papá, abuelito, mis papás etc. because they said it would sound childish.

Use of comprarse

Hello,

I'm just wondering about the use of the reflexive comprarse. It is used in this example:

En esta tienda pueden comprarse unas joyas muy bonitas.You can buy very nice jewels in this shop
Why is the reflexive used here, and in general when do we use comprarse instead of comprar?
