Ese hombre me recuerda mucho a mi padre. Tiene los mismos ojos.
That man reminds me of my dad. He has the same eyes.
La escena de amor en la película me recuerda a nuestra primera cita.
The love scene in the movie reminds me of our first date.
Both of these examples use "me recuerda a"
In the quiz:
El olor de esta comida ________ mi niñez.
The smell of that food reminds me of my childhood.
The answer is: me recuerda
Could you please explain why the "a" is omitted in this example?

What am I missing? The lesson says that all three options are interchangeable, but the test result says that I got it almost correct when I chose "podía haber reducido" instead of "podría haber reducido."
The lesson says that gustaría is only used in the third person singular. However, what if the things that would be liked are nouns, not verbs. Wouldn’t the plural be used to reflect this, as an example “nos gustarían unas cervezas” - we would like some beers?
When use esta or es?

I came across this construction and I wasn't sure how to translate it. The use of the gerund does not follow any lesson I've seen. Is it similar to the "hacer/mandar + infinitive" construction?

I noticed the sentence below in a quiz. I'm curious to know why "ese" is the natural choice here instead of "aquel." I had thought that both words should indicate maximum distance.

I was wondering if there is a mistake here in calling these "interrogative pronouns" searches come up as these being "adverbs". Is there something I'm missing?

I can't find any on-line Spanish grammar text that indicates that "que" can be used in place of "porque" to begin an explanatory clause. I assume that that usage must be very colloquial and only used when talking with friends. Am I correct about that?
