Would 'han estado viniendo' be an acceptable answer here?

in the examples like Nuria has lived in California for 3 months, shouldn't it be: Nuria has been living in California for 3 months to express that it is still ongoing?
In the test I was similarly irritated with the sentence I have lived on a boat for 4 weeks, which I would translate as He vivido en un barco por 4 semanas, but the only option making sense was the one having the form explained in this lesson.
Of course I may be wrong, English isn't my first language.

(I imagine you may have got a negative surprise 

Native English speakers would say “an unwelcome surprise”, “a negative surprise” sounds very odd

In "I hate the rain" writing exercise, it is "Ver la televisión", so why isn't it also "Escucho (a?) la música"? It says the correct answer is "Escucho música"

I came across this construction and I wasn't sure how to translate it.  The use of the gerund does not follow any lesson I've seen.  Is it similar to the "hacer/mandar + infinitive" construction?

Tienes un hijo criandose en el convento.

Is there any difference between the conjugation of "pensar" and that of the other semi-regular "stem-changing -ar verbs" in a previous lesson? Just wondering why "pensar" was singled out for a lesson of its own.

Would it be correct to say:

"No pienso ir."

as:

"No pienso que voy a ir."

What am I missing? The lesson says that all three options are interchangeable, but the test result says that I got it almost correct when I chose "podía haber reducido" instead of "podría haber reducido."
