Could I say La ultima vez que la vi fue hace...

I looked at the comments regarding quería and querría .  But I do not see anyone asking abut Quisiera as I translation for "I would like".  Would that also be translated in the present.

Also, I thought that when the speaker says what she would like, that part of the sentence would not be subjunctive.Although, I think that when an English speaker says "I would like you to .. . ." as opposed to "I want you to..." the former is softer, I just have a lot of trouble with the subjunctive and to be sure I understand this part of it

I used 'cuando suene la alarma' and was corrected to 'cuando suena la alarma'. I notice that an alternative could be 'cuando suene el despertador' so would my original translation, using the subjunctive with 'la alarma', be ok to use?

I'm learning Spanish to keep up with my family (mixed origins from spain, latin america, south america, etc.) and I've noticed that I don't quite understand when the people I'm talking to prefer that I use formal or informal.

Are there any general guidelines or standards as for when one is more appropriate? Like if it's someone who is your senior or based on how close you are to each other? Or is this maybe not as big a deal these days as it might have been in the past?

We have porque, que and como in this construction - and we know that por can mean 'because of' - can it also be used as a causal conjunction in this sense?

We do not use vosotros in Colombia, this is really messing up my tests. Is there a way to avoid this? It is just confusing to learn something that is not necessary.

The question (with no other information provided) is "Drive safely!.  One of the options is "Conducir con cuidado".There is another lesson on Requests / Commands / instructions where if I have got it right the infinitive is used without the preopisiton "a"..  Why doies it not work in this instance?
