By extension can I also combine nunca and tampoco in the same sentence as shown below
Ella no pudo nunca entender tampoco la pregunta.
Ella no pudo entender nunca tampoco la pregunta.
Ella no pudo entender nunca la pregunta tampoco.
Ella nunca pudo entender la pregunta tampoco.
I was doing a writing exercise, and I put "estar por" instead of "estar a punto de" and I was corrected and "estar por" wasn't shown as an option. I'm wondering why since I have heard and used this expression frequently.
The phrase that has to be translated was, "He was about to go out the door when..."
How does this lesson fit with the other lesson "Using Querer in El Preterito Indefinido vs. El Preterito Imperfecto", which seems to be saying that querer in the Simple Past means "to try"?
It seems to me that it is a statement of opinion or one of uncertainty, not a statement of fact.

I've been taught that this usage of the passive voice is discouraged in English, especially in formal writing, and especially when the active voice is easily possible. Is the same true in Spanish? Thank you!
In the phrase
"If... , they'd have given you a decent room." I understand why hubieran dado is correct, but isn't hubiesen dado also an acceptable form of the pluscuamperfecto de subjuntivo?When, if ever, is the construction "no...nada" used? When is "nada" used?
