En la última frase, por qué se escribe "sería cumplir..."? A mi no tiene sentido. No sería mejor decir: "Ser escritora cumpliría mi mayor sueño"?

Hi! This is my first time asking a question on here so I don't know how quickly I'll get a reply. I take Spanish as a class, but I failed my second semester. My school did some weird things and now a year later I'm retaking it... without any knowledge from the first semester which is why I'm on here.
My teacher and our textbook (VHS Senderos Supersite) say that gemelo/a translates to twin. Is this a dialect difference? Or is it just a translation error?

I was a little surprised at the sentence "Los estudiantes juntamos...". I would have expected it to be "Los estudiantes juntan..." as los estudiantes is 3rd person plural. Is it "juntamos" because the speaker is counting himself amongst them? i.e. "We, the students, are collecting..."

I don't quite understand why el condicional (como en "debería") no tiene forma de subjuntivo en español.
Isn't it right to say “No pienso que el alcalde debiera/debiese tener un salario más bajo.”?
Claudia siempre le añade mucha sal a la comida. Should this translate to Claudia always adds a lot of salt to HER food and not Claudia always adds a lot of salt to food.
