•I think cabello should be accepted in place of pelo.

•Second, I don't think 'y' is necessary between castaño and rizado (or rubio and largo). Can't we simply write el pelo castaño rizado (or el pelo rubio largo).

We can add "cabello" as an alternative, no problem.

But in Spanish when you describe hair using two adjectives we use "y" in between the adjectives.
