Question

'Si las temperaturas continúan aumentando, especies como el abejaruco podían modificar sus rutas migratorias'
No entiendo el uso del imperfecto en esta frase ni el enlace a esta explicación gramatical: Using the Spanish imperfect subjunctive in hypothetical clauses introduced by si followed by the Spanish conditional simple.  Yo utilicé el condicional. Gracias

You’re absolutely right.
In this case, the sentence refers to a real and ongoing situation, so the correct structure is present + conditional (si continúan → podrían). Using the imperfect tense here would not be appropriate.
We’ve now removed the option with the imperfect, as it was incorrect.
