You could also say:        y come mucha fruta y verduras.

I was wondering why both fruta and verdura are not plural,

2) I really like all your exercises, and do appreciate your adding "You could also say sections".  I have noticed that these (so far that I've seen) are basically

synonyms.  Are there instances where you show how the sentence could be constructed differently and still have the same meaning (syntax /word order wise).  I know that Spanish is a very pliant language that way, but I know that there are some things that are not acceptable (like any language) and find this would be helpful.

Hi,

Does the section headed "Bear in mind that their regular superlative forms can also be used" mean that there are two ways to say "The youngest of my brothers is called Juan:

    El menor de mis hermanos se llama Juan.

and

   El más menor de mis hermanos se llama Juan.

Is it necessary to use definite article? What difference would it make if we dropped la?

Could you explain why there is no “S” on pintura.  Is this a special case? if so what lesson would attach to this?

Let's have a look at the following sentences:

1) Mis padres querían que estudiara Derecho

2) Susana quería que le hubiera traído fresas, pero no pude

Could you tell me if Pluscuamperfecto de subjuntivo is used in the second sentence to emphasize  that somebody didn't manage to bring strawberries, however the result of the first one is unknown?

In Milan it is raining

Why is my reply not OK?

and this one:

In the east, in Bari there's a storm

Kwizbot En el este, en Bari hay tormenta 

You En el este, en Bari hay una tormenta

Questioin: Would it not be acceptable to use "una" here, since it's a manifestation and not a condition like cloudy?

i.e. there's a cloud: hay un nube; it's cloudy: está nublado (I know it strays a bit from the "hay" format, but it's the only example I can think of. )

In an example above you say, "Ellos estan delgados". I thought SER was used to describe physical characteristics i.e. "El es alto." To say Ellos estan delgados would imply they are thin now but they didn't used to be thin. Or that they appear thin. Or am I wrong?

Can we drop en? Would it be correct?

Can we also drop para from: nada dura para toda la vida?

Previously, I have only come across en casa without the defnite article.
