Background

Federico García Lorca is probably Spain’s most famous modern poet and playwright. Bodas de Sangre, along with Yerma and La Casa de Bernarda Alba are often grouped together as a “rural trilogy” with common themes of choice, fate and nature. Bodas de Sangre was first performed in Madrid in 1932.
