The "United States" in Spanish

7Ellos ________ en Estados Unidos el verano pasado. They were in the USA last summer.(HINT: Conjugate "estar" in El Pretérito Indefinido)
I think "the U.S." should be translated as "los EE. UU.", not "EE. UU".  I think in Britain,  people often call the United States "United States", but in Spanish it would be better to say "los Estados Unidos".

Hola Rick

As Marsha said, we call the USA both Estados Unidos and Los Estados Unidos. Sometimes we use the article, sometimes we drop it.

Saludos
