I agree with Sue. Even though there are many fantastic exercises with excellent content perfect for reinforcing the lessons and quizzes, I find myself avoiding self-graded exercises because there are too many clicks and mouse movements required on each page. Also there is too much delay waiting on the web page to reload. Furthermore, there are no keyboard shortcuts for grading or moving on to next section. It all requires manual mouse clicks.  The clicks and delays with each section of the exercise add up. I concur with making self-grading optional, and figuring out a way to speed up the page reloads and adding shortcut keys to expedite getting through an exercise. The writing exercises would be a great place to start.

At first I didn't like the self-grading when doing writing exercises but now I have changed my mind.

Making mistakes and learning from them is for me the best way of language learning and self-grading really focusses my attention on the type of mistake and how important it is.

Obviously it's different for everyone. I absolutely need to see my mistakes in order for them to go into the grey matter. 

I also tend to do an exercise, make a note of my mistakes in a notepad, then let some time pass and then re-do the same exercise without referring to my notepad.  Having the grading helps me to see if my Spanish has improved from the first time to the second, and so on. 

It's really interesting to see how we all learn and process in different ways. 

As [the other] David and Clara emphasise, it is always valuable to be shown where you have made mistakes. It is also useful to see what different options are permissible for the translations - although it is of course often impossible to list those exhaustively.

My guess is that Sue and Jerald probably agree with that^? ... However, there is absolutely no need to waste time trying to decide (for each and every occasion) whether this mark, or perhaps some other one, is the most appropriate.

[Clara, you must be one of the most hard-working students in Kwiziq - perhaps the most ! ... Your approach and procedure can only be of benefit, I'm sure - Well done !]

Also, it's helping them train their AI to determine what score to give to you if you miss an accent or don't place a comma or period in the right place, or when you make a typo... or at least it could be used for that :) I'm onboard with Clara and David's takes though.
