“Maths” is not an English word

Question

In English it’s only math, never the plural “maths.” This word doesn’t exist.

As your fellow students rightly say, "maths" actually is an English word!
We don't want you to be confused by our explanations and examples, so we have added a note to the sentence to clarify its meaning for our American users. We know that learning a foreign language was the only challenge you signed up for when you decided to learn Spanish with us!
Just to clarify, "maths" is the most common way of referring to mathematics in British English and many other countries that speak English as a first language. It's true it is not frequent in the USA, but it is still a word and is listed by Merriem Webster, one of the most popular American English Dictionaries. 
I thought this would be a great opportunity to remind all our users about our policy on English usage.

in British English it is Maths never ever Math! Math (singular ) is only American usage.

Hi Jim,Both 'math' and 'maths' are correct. It's simply that the first abbreviation of 'mathematics' 'math' is the American English spelling/usage and the latter 'maths' is the British English spelling/usage. Clara :)
