Watch Out for False Friends!

¿Qué tal tu semana? This time, we’re introducing a brand-new section called Amigos Falsos, those sneaky little words that look familiar but don’t mean what you think. We’re also shining a light on real friendship… the kind that doesn’t leave you lost in translation.

With this week’s reading, listening and gapfill exercises, you’ll learn to spot these classic mix-ups and master them with confidence, while also celebrating friendship and learning the difference between yo también vs yo tampoco.

In Spanish, some words look like English… but don’t mean what you think! These tricky words are called “false friends” and they can really catch you out if you’re not careful. 

Take a look at some examples:

 Estoy embarazada    ❌ I’m embarrassed  ✅ I’m pregnant

Tengo una carpeta    ❌ I have a carpet    ✅ I have a folder
