Memoria DemocráticaYou may be wondering what Memoria Democrática means. In Spain, it’s the name given to the effort to preserve the memory of the Spanish Civil War and the Franco dictatorship, while recognising those who experienced and suffered through those years. It’s a topic that still shapes Spanish culture, literature, education and public debate, making it an important concept for anyone interested in Spain and the Spanish language. One reason we’re exploring this theme this week is that 17 July marks the anniversary of the military uprising in 1936 that led to the Spanish Civil War. So, our bilingual reading and listening activity today is based on one of Spain’s most well-known films, La lengua de las mariposas, set in the months leading up to the Spanish Civil War. ¡Es hora de practicar! 🎯 Read along with usBilingual text with audio ![]() Step into the world of La lengua de las mariposas, one of Spain’s most memorable stories.
