🚵🏽 La Vuelta is almost here! As Spain gets ready for one of its biggest sporting events of the year, we’re jumping into the exciting world of professional cycling.
This week’s activities will introduce you to useful cycling vocabulary, explore a special word in our La palabra curiosa section that’s unique to the sport and help you practise your Spanish.
La Vuelta a España is one of cycling’s three Grand Tours, alongside the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia. First held in 1935, it has become a symbol of endurance, strategy and spectacular scenery, taking riders through mountains, coastlines and historic cities across Spain.

In cycling, rebufo is the area of reduced wind resistance behind another cyclist. Riding in the rebufo helps cyclists save energy during a race. Is that what you expected? 😳
