On 30 September 2020, the Argentinian cartoonist Quino passed away. Born Joaquín Salvador Lavado Tejón, he was the creator of the beloved cartoon character Mafalda: a six-year-old girl who despite her age reflects with unnerving maturity on humanity, politics and world peace. Quino created Mafalda in 1963, and although he drew Mafalda for only 10 years, the books were translated into 20 languages, introducing her and her gang to children and adults around the world.

We’d like to offer this reading and listening exercise about Mafalda and her friends as a tribute to Quino.

This reading and listening exercise can help you practise El Presente, describing people, and gender and number agreement.
