Grammatical mood (sometimes called 'mode') is a way of categorising the attitude reflected in the way a verb is used.

There are three moods in Spanish:

1. Indicative - used for facts and real situations
2. Subjunctive - used for subjective and hypothetical events or situations
3. Imperative - used for commands and requests

Note: You may hear that the Spanish "Condicional" is considered a mood, not a tense, by some linguists. Read here: modo / tiempo condicional
