when to use donde versus adonde

Hola Richard S.
The difference between “donde” and “adonde” is mainly about movement. We use “donde” to talk about a place or location (where something is), and “adonde” when there is movement towards a place (where to / where someone is going).
For example:
¿Dónde estás? (Where are you?) → location
¿Adónde vas? (Where are you going?) → movement
We have a full lesson here that explains the difference between adónde/adonde/dónde/donde.
That should help you see the pattern more easily. Let me know if anything is still unclear!
Hasta pronto
Silvia
