Ustedes ________ el autobús equivocado. You have taken the wrong bus. (HINT: Conjugate "tomar" in El pretérito Perfecto )

The answer given is “han tomado”. I don’t think tomado has been covered. I thought it should be tímido. Can you please explain?

Hola David T.

The sentence "Ustedes ______ el autobús equivocado." requires the verb "tomar" to be conjugated in El Pretérito Perfecto (Present Perfect tense), which is formed using the present tense of "haber" + past participle of the verb.

So for "ustedes", the correct conjugation of haber is "han", and the past participle of "tomar" is "tomado", making the full phrase:

Ustedes han tomado el autobús equivocado.
(You have taken the wrong bus.)

It seems like there might be a little confusion with "tímido", which is an adjective meaning "shy" and not related to the verb "tomar". The past participle "tomado" is formed by taking the stem "tom-" and adding "-ado", which is the regular ending for -ar verbs in this tense.

I hope this clarifies your question.

Saludos

Silvia
