Sorry - I withdraw my question... Initially, I was not sure - because my dictionaries did not actually translate "realistas" as "royalists". But I've just discovered that there were indeed Chileans who were in favour of maintaining links with the Spanish Crown - and that they were referred to as "realistas" [rather than "monárquicos"].
