The history of Chile is very interesting, it dates back hundreds of years. Before the Spanish arrived in the 16th century, its lands were populated by an indigenous population which was made up of Mapuche-speaking tribes and by other nomadic tribes who dedicated themselves to nomadic agriculture. Later with the arrival of the Spaniards, a great miscegenation took place and the country had to face the Mapuche resistance because many battles were fought in the south of the territory to defend their lands. At the beginning of the 19th century, an independence movement arose which was directed simultaneously against Spain and against the Chilean royalists. In 1818, the Spanish governor was removed from power and the Republic of Chile was officially proclaimed, although Spain did not recognize its independence until 1844.
