"Le" only for men?

I've used "le" for men AND women (e.g. "Un gusto conocerle!", "Pásenle" etc.), but the article says it's only for men. This is Spanish spoken in a Mexican-American household, so I don't know how that affects things-- could be improper Spanish, but I thought I'd check because I hear it often.

Hola Elias

You will definitely hear it. This use of le for him and her is accepted in certain cases. Here's a comprehensive article from R.A.E that establishes what the norm is, what is accepted and exceptions depending on the type of verb. The example you're using "Un gusto conocerle" ("A pleasure to meet you"); this you being either masculine or feminine, is a case of leísmo de cortesía, which is quite common.

Un saludo cordial
