It seems this post contains questions on two different topics. I am asking how to know to use the vosotros form of ver rather than the ustedes form when asking about checking on piglets, which sounds completely lovely to me :-)

Hola Anna T.
In Spain, vosotros is used when addressing a group of people informally, while ustedes is used for a group in formal situations.
So, if the context suggests you’re speaking informally to several people, vosotros is the appropriate form. In most of Latin America, ustedes is used for both formal and informal plural “you”.
I hope this helps!
Silvia
I love this discussion. Silvia is (of course) spot on. Piglets are totally cool and deserve to be spoken of in familiar terms. It has been said that dogs want your approval, cats think they are better than you, and pigs see themselves as equals. I think all of that is true. So where piglets are concerned, if I were raising them I would use vosotros. I’m sure a butcher might prefer Ustedes
