How to remember

How do learners remember when to use the "de" described above? Do native speakers learn it only from growing up with the language? I don't see any particular rule for knowing when to use the "de" and when not to--how "wrong" is it to omit the "de?"

yep... How do we remember this?    Maybe just several rules.    This will take some time   Six.    The people is sort of like possession.  El perro de Ana.

Ana's dog.     Child's clothes     or the ladies one

Los pijamas de señora están en la planta baja.The ladies' pyjamas are on the ground floor
