Confusing question

Hi, the question is "Which of the following expressions are followed by the subjunctive?"

And the options are: Tememos que , Es incierto que, Es verdad que,Es cierto que.

I say confusing becasue in fact all 4 can be use with subjunctive but just becasue not all answers fall in doubt or uncertain, the system marked me wrong. Maybe you can consider changing the options?

Hola Hayley

In the lesson (by the end) there's a box saying that if the expression is conveying "certainty", then the indicative is used. We gave an example with "estoy segura de que..." vs "no estoy segura de que..." showing the contrast. In the options that you see in that specific test-question, you have two options conveying certainty: es verdad que... + es cierto que..., therefore those two need the indicative, not the subjunctive.

Nevertheless, I added those expressions to the mentioned box, so it's clearer for the students when you mustn't use the subjunctive.

I hope it helps.

Saludos cordiales

Inma
