Shouldn't it be 'casas colgandas?' since it is used as an active form as in english 'hanging'?

casas colgadas?
This question relates to:Spanish interactive reading exercise "Las casas colgadas de Cuenca"

Hola Irigasumi
You would have thought so because of the English "hanging" but we use the past participle as if we were saying: "hanged houses". I hope this clarified it.
Saludos
