Thanks for your comment and your suggestion - we extended the paragraph so it's now clear that it can only be the imperfect or pluperfect subjunctive.

Hola Inma, lo siento. I meant: please include the word “precaution” in the discussion on how to know if the meaning is less or more probability. Eg, me encontrara is correct because not going to the party is a PRECAUTION (taken to not bump into David) and precaution means less probability. Gracias, Shirley.
