How do I know when a noun is masculine or feminine?
Do I go off the last letter of the noun? Like planta and idea end in 'a' so I use una, but if it ends in an 'o' or any other letter besides 'a' then I say un.

This is my first lesson at B1, (yay) but it seems to assume i ready know the subjunctive conjugations. Should I just skip it, and wait until I get lessons on the subjunctive?
Is it incorrect to not use the contraction in Spanish. Whereas, in English, it is NOT incorrect to not use the contraction. For example, "do not" is as acceptable as "don't." Is "a el" acceptable, or incorrect? Thank you.
Should the 2nd example above not have read ' you may well have been ill' without the 'as' which would be said in different circumstances e,g, you may as well have been ill for all the good you did ??
In the example sentence, “ Tengo que ir al supermercado. Me falta fruta y carne.”, should the verb be faltan, since the subject of the sentence is fruta y carne?
1. Ese dibujo parece bueno. Enséñamelo, por favor.
2. Ese dibujo parece bueno. Me lo enseñas, por favor.
What is the difference between these two options? Why is the second one incorrect? To me they both sound acceptable. Thanks
