Adverbs of place
Adverbs of place are those that talk about "where" something happens. They modify the verb giving this type of information.
Some common adverbs of place are:
Ella vive cerca de la playa.
(She lives near the beach.)
Los libros están encima de la mesa.
(The books are on the table.)
Pusimos las cajas en el centro de la habitación.
(We put the boxes in the middle of the room.)
Note that when they are formed by a group of words they are called "locuciones adverbiales", i.e. "en el centro", "a lo lejos", "en lo alto".
