This literary work was written in the 19th century. It deals with marriages of convenience, in this case the [one] of a 16-year-old girl with a 59-year-old man. However, the young woman is in love with a soldier but she does not show her feelings towards him to obey her mother. This situation was very common at that time and many young women married without love. The authors of the Enlightenment did not like this and that's why they wrote this type of critical oeuvre. Luckily, this story has a happy ending since the idea of true love triumphs and all the characters forgive each other. Fortunately, the heart prevails over reason!
