Newsletter: Say Hola to 2026 👋

 Say Hola to 2026 👋

A new year means fresh starts, new plans and the perfect excuse to practice some Spanish. In this newsletter, you’ll find some fun activities inspired by new beginnings: a fill-in-the-blank exercise to get comfortable with the present subjunctive and a cool Spanish expression you can use to welcome the new year while looking ahead and forgetting about what was left behind.

A practical way to start the year learning.

Empieza el año practicando español. 😉

¿Conoces esta expresión?

¡Lo pasado, pisado!

what´s done is done

This New Year, there’s a Spanish saying that is very common in Latin America that fits perfectly: Lo pasado, pisado. It means What’s done is done, leave it behind. Keep what you learned, drop what weighs you down and step into the New Year lighter.

So whatever 2025 brought you, take a breath and say it with me:

¡Lo pasado, pisado!
What’s done is done!

Here’s to a brighter, calmer 2026. ✨

And what better way to celebrate this useful expression than by practicing the simple past tense? Here’s a shared notebook with all our lessons on these specific verbs. They have irregular stems, but they all share the same endings:

Mind the Gap “___”
