😎 💬 El español en movimiento

This week we’re exploring how the Spanish language has evolved over time and how it continues to adapt to new words and expressions. Some of these even make their way into our very own official dictionary, the RAE.

We’ve chosen one of those newer words that younger generations use all the time. It might sound familiar! Take a look in our la palabra curiosa section to discover it.

You can also read and listen to our bilingual text, where two young people have an interesting conversation about how these new terms are used today. You might be surprised by how many of them are already part of everyday Spanish!

La palabra curiosa

“Loguearse”

logging in

Do you know what loguearse means?

Loguearse means… exactly what you’re thinking: “to log in.”

See how we’ve taken an English term and turned it into a new Spanish verb? Aren’t we clever! 😄

Here are some examples to see it in context:

Antes de la clase, tienes que loguearte en la plataforma.
Before class, you have to log in to the platform.

¿Te logueaste al final o tuviste problemas?
Did you manage to log in in the end, or did you have problems?

What about taking this a step further and learning how to use some perífrasis verbales to say things like “I’ve just logged in” or “I’m about to log in”?

Here’s a shared notebook with some interesting lessons you can try out straight away!
