Would you like an internationally recognised Spanish qualification without breaking the bank? Then the CELU exam is for you!
This one-day test is accredited by the Argentinian Ministry of Education, and happens four times a year around the globe.
Read on to learn how the exam works, how to register, and how to study for it.
How Does the CELU Exam Work?
The CELU exam has only one format, rather than several levels. It consists of two parts:
- Oral exam (15-20 minutes)
- Written exam (3 hours)
From these two parts, students are awarded either an Intermediate or Advanced level. These correspond respectively to CEFR B2 and C1. The level achieved is further qualified as good, very good, or excellent.
What Type of Spanish Does CELU test?
The CELU is awarded by an Argentinian institution. However, examinees don't have to use a particular type of Spanish to complete the test. For example, you do not have to use the vos form if you are not familiar with it.
However, you do have to know the difference between formal and informal registers. You must also be grammatically correct and consistent.
In the oral exam, you must be able to communicate effectively with the examiner. Pronunciation, vocabulary, register, and syntax of all varieties of Spanish are accepted.
