El Presente in Spanish: regular actions

We use El Presente to talk about regular actions that happen in the present. These actions are not necessarily happening at the same time as we are speaking, but they do happen in the present time regularly, at a certain time, on a certain day...

We normally find time phrases expressing frequency, such as:

    • normalmente (normally)
    • generalmente (generally)
    • todos los días (everyday)
    • cada sábado (each Saturday)
    • siempre (always)
    • nunca (never)


Read and listen to these examples:

Cada mañana voy al gimnasio.Each morning I go to the gym.

Siempre bebes mucha agua.You always drink a lot of water.

Todos los días Isabel hace deporte.Isabel plays sports every day.

Normalmente vemos la televisión por la tarde.Normally we watch TV in the evening.
