Present tense

The present tense in Spanish is generally used to talk about actions that happen in the present. Sometimes we use it to express actions that happen on a regular basis and also to express what is happening at the moment. Another use of the present tense in Spanish is to talk about the future.

For example:

María estudia en la universidad de Salamanca.
María studies at Salamanca university.

Mis amigos van al gimnasio cada tarde. 
My friends go to the gym every afternoon.

Mañana viene mi novio.
My boyfriend is coming tomorrow.
