The quiz question was “muchas veces estoy triste” being translated to “I am often sad”. Why would that not be “A menudo estoy triste”?

Why muchas veces meaning often
This question relates to:Spanish lesson "Using vez/veces = time/times in Spanish"
Asked 1 year ago

Hola Kent
We use "muchas veces" to mean "often/very often" in Spanish. You can of course say "a menudo" which is also "often". The reason why we're using muchas veces here is because this test-question is linked to a lesson about vez/veces. Using the EN translation "many times" for this would sound very unnatural, this is why we translated it as "often" (which means the same).
I hope this clarified it.
Saludos
Inma
