Why le, not lo

Si le hubieseis admitido en el equipo, él ________contentísimo. If you'd let him join the team, he'd have been thrilled.(HINT: use verb "estar")habría estado. Hola, why le, not lo, here? Muchas gracias, Shirley.

Hola Shirley

Technically it should be "lo" since admitir is a transitive verb, hence the direct object (lo) for "him". However, it's not unusual to find "le" sometimes instead of "lo" when it is referring to a male person. This is called "leísmo". This specific situation in actually admitted by RAE. You can read a bit about leísmo here.

Saludos
