In the first levels (A1, A2) the reflexive verbs that are normally part of the learning content are to do with actions that people do "to/ upon themselves", like "peinarse, lavarse..." (to comb your hair, to wash yourself...) and also routine verbs like "despertarse, levantarse, ducharse..." (to wake up, to get up, to have a shower...) 

After that you'll learn that there are lots of other verbs that are used as reflexive verbs with the pronouns and they are not to do with routine or clear actions upon yourself. It is something that you memorise as part of your vocabulary as you keep learning. 

There are verbs that can be also used in both ways, with and without reflexive pronouns, and they have a slightly different meaning depending on how you use the verb.

If you learn a new verb and don't know whether it can also use the reflexive pronoun, you can always look it up in a dictionary and check if it has the letters "prnl" ( = pronominal) and look at the examples they give.
