Yes, the verb echar is a very interesting one. It's used in lots of idiomatic expressions as it's showing in this list from the introduction of the exercise "Cotilleo". Have a look here if you missed it.
The verb echar is also sometimes mixed up with the verb hacer, especially with the forms "[yo] echo...", which is the yo form of the present tense of echar, and "hecho", which is the past participle of hacer. They have nearly the same spelling and they are pronounced exactly the same!
