i thought it had to agree with the gender of the noun la maleta so toda
In this sentence "todo" is not referring to "maleta", it is referring to a "everything" and for this we use "todo" (singular masculine form). There's a note by the end of the lesson that explains this: "Note on todo/todos". There are two examples in the lesson for this part:
Yo quiero verlo todo.
I want to see everything.
Todo me parece interesante.
Everything seems interesting to me.
