In the Tip it says that the above este etc can be used as demonstrative pronouns. This is not quite correct as demonstrative pronouns are éste ,ésta, They have a hyphen above the e . Where as esto is similar in both cases

That was the rule up to 2010:
este, ese, aquel = demonstrative adjectives
éste, ése, aquél = demonstrative pronouns
But in 2010 the R.A.E (La Real Academia Española) decided that there was no need for a written accent on these and whichever their function is in the sentence they don't take any accent:
Este coche es muy bonito. (adj)
This car is very nice.
A mí me gusta este. (pron)
I like this one.
