Saludos in Spain Spanish

Which is the most used form: "Cómo te llamas?" or "Cual es tú nombre?" I didn't understand quite well when reading the text

(please ignore the lack of the interrogation point at the beginning of the questions, my keyboard doesn't have this "feature")

Hola Sofia A.

In Peninsular Spanish, the most commonly used question to ask someone's name is "¿Cómo te llamas?", as it literally means 'What do you call yourself?', which is the natural way to ask this in Spanish.

While "¿Cuál es tu nombre?" (note: "tu" doesn’t have an accent) is grammatically correct, it is less commonly used in Spain and can sound more formal or even a bit unnatural in casual conversations. It’s more typical in Latin America, though even there, "¿Cómo te llamas?" is still the most common way to ask.

So, if you're learning Peninsular Spanish, "¿Cómo te llamas?" is the best choice.

Let me know if you need any more clarification! 😊

Best,

Silvia
