Recoger - two uses?
This question relates to:Spanish lesson "Using deber, poder, querer in Spanish + infinitive to express must, can, to want to (Verbo modal)"
Asked 4 hours ago
Hola Helen L.
Recoger can have several meanings depending on the context. Two very common ones are “to pick up/collect” and “to tidy up”.
For example:
Tengo que recoger a los niños. = I have to pick up the children.
Debo recoger mi habitación. = I must tidy up my room.
So although English uses two different verbs here, Spanish can use recoger for both meanings. The context tells us which meaning is intended.
I hope this helps!
Saludos
Silvia
