Why is it "*por* dónde estaremos" instead of "dónde estaremos" in the sample question?
In this sentence you are referring to:
Mi navegador está roto; ¿por dónde estaremos?
My sat nav is broken; whereabouts might we be?
We could have said ¿dónde estaremos?
Adding "por" would add that nuance of "whereabouts", as in, not exactly where but "around where" (aproximately where).
