In the example sentence, “ Tengo que ir al supermercado. Me falta fruta y carne.”, should the verb be faltan, since the subject of the sentence is fruta y carne?

You could use the plural "Me faltan fruta y carne" or you could use the singular as we did in the lesson "Me falta fruta y [me falta] carne", as if we were omitting the verb in this second part.
