Peleones vs Peleonas

¡Qué ________ sois vosotras dos! How aggressive you two are!(HINT: "peleón" = masculine for aggressive)… why is the answer peleonas?

Hola Jon P.

The reason the correct answer is "peleonas" and not "peleones" has to do with agreement in gender and number.

In the sentence "¡Qué ______ sois vosotras dos!", the word vosotras refers to two females, so any adjective that describes them must be feminine plural.

  • "Peleón" is the masculine singular form.

  • Its feminine singular is "peleona", and the feminine plural is "peleonas".

  • The masculine plural would be "peleones".

That’s why the sentence correctly reads: "¡Qué peleonas sois vosotras dos!".

You're absolutely right that peleón is the base adjective — but in Spanish, adjectives ending in -ón do change form to match gender and number.

Hope this clears things up!

Saludos

Silvia
