order of words and use of definite articles

El domingo cocino una paella.I cook a paella on Sunday. Could this also be translated "On Sundays I cook paella."and this one.El lunes estudio matemáticas.I study maths on Monday. "On Mondays i study maths."and I have a desire to make it have definite article in front of mathematicas. Some times it seems like they are being used differently then I do in English.Do you know where that is?
