llevar vs tener vs haber + participle
This question relates to:Spanish lesson "Using llevar + past participle to express the completion of an action so far (perífrasis verbal)"
Asked 3 weeks ago
Hola Pat B.
These structures are indeed similar because they all refer to past actions, but they express different nuances:
-
haber + participle is used to form the perfect tenses and simply indicates that an action has occurred.
-
llevar + participle emphasises how much of an action has been completed up to a certain point or the accumulated result so far.
-
tener + participle focuses on the result or state achieved after completing an action.
We have several lessons covering these constructions individually, but we'll take your suggestion into account when reviewing future content, as a comparative lesson could be useful.
Saludos
Silvia
